At Recharge we believe self care is in fact necessary and NOT selfish, looking after yourself is vital for mental wellbeing. Below are some activities and tips on how to increase your mental health, from the NHS. 1. SOCIAL CONNECTION
Building and developing relationships; spending time with people daily either digitally or in person; share feelings and experiences so as to receive or provide emotional/mental support
2. EXERCISE
Staying active has been showed to improve mental wellbeing; set goals within the exercise that are attainable so raise self-esteem. Exercise also boosts sleep and memory (Bailey, 2021; Simmonds 2019)
3. TRY SOMETHING NEW
Boost self-esteem by learning a new skill, such as cooking, baking, sewing, drawing, blog writing, languages
4. ACTS OF KINDNESS
Find purpose and self-worth in giving to others; giving can be physical gift giving, or giving of time, a listening ear, a few kind words, voluntary work
5. MINDFULNESS
Listen to your body and mind and things of the here and now; focus on your present feelings and emotions and your immediate surroundings more closely
